Canada is a global leader in the development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies. In recent years, the government has invested approximately $3 billion in CCS research and study.
All the studies could potentially laid to five to six large-scale demonstration projects nationally. At the international level, Canada is actively participating in efforts to progress towards development and deployment of CCS technology, as well as to validate its feasibility.
...and research to deal with agricultural GHG's?
Canada is a founding member of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases. This is an international network composed by more than 30 countries commited to agricultural research in regards to greenhouse gas mitigation for farmers worldwide. Canada has invested $27 million towards the Global Research Alliance.
Canada has funded the Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Program (AGGP), which will assist Canadian farmers in becoming more competitive and profitable.Also, about $19.6 million has been destined for the development of 18 projects that will ultimately bring farmers, the agricultural community ,and academia together to reduce agricultural greenhouse gases.
